To ensure confidence in our findings, we operate a robust and fully-traceable quality-assurance system for our emission monitoring work, available for external audit by client or regulator. The Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) is actively progressing its role as policing authority for environmental protection. Process emissions can occur via controlled (ie extracted) or uncontrolled (ie fugitive) emissions. Monitoring for stack emission concentrations can be a highly technical exercise, dependent upon stack gas conditions (eg temperature, moisture) and the specific pollutants of interest. For measurement of particulates in a gas stream, sampling has to be undertaken with minimal deformation of the airflow, that is by iso-kinetic sampling. For many other substances a complex sampling train may be necessary to avoid cross-sensitivity or to minimise sample losses prior to collection. To demonstrate compliance with Part 1 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990(EPA90) operators of prescribed processes are required to undertake a programme of regular monitoring of emissions to the atmosphere. |

Ethos Environmental has over 20 years’ experience in stack testing.
