Air Testing PDF Print E-mail

Asbestos fibres only present a risk via the inhalation route of exposure. Airborne asbestos fibres are invisible to the naked eye - the only way of establishing if there are fibres present is by sampling the air and counting the fibres by microscopy.

There are many situations where this can be a useful or essential tool for asbestos risk management:

  • Checking ambient air levels subsequent to sampling of bulk asbestos products in a building survey
  • Clearance testing
  • Re-assurance testing
  • Background air testing
  • Leak testing
  • Perimeter environmental monitoring downwind of site during demolition works
  • Personal exposure montitoring

The company is UKAS-accredited for air sampling and fibre-counting to ISO 17025.  We can advise on the best monitoring strategy to provide you with clear re-assurance that asbestos risk has been controlled.

4-Stage Re-Occupation Certification

Certification of the cleanliness and air quality clearance testing of a live asbestos enclosure is necessary before the area can be handed back to the client after most asbestos removal works.  This involves a four-stage process and must be undertaken independently of the asbestos removal contractor.  Ethos Environmental Ltd is UKAS-accredited to 17025 for this service.  We recommend that this service be commissioned by the client directly rather than via the removal contractor
