Legionella can be everywhere: in water drinking, washing, heating and distribution systems and in air conditioning and ventilation plant.

The risk however relates strongly to the likelihood that the micro-organism is made available to be inhaled. 

A complex series of factors can combine to present a genuine risk to occupants and users of a building. 

The assessment for risk presented is therefore often not straightforward, requiring experience and competency to identify the extent of the problem its cause and the appropriate remedial work.
