Over 25% of injuries reported to the HSE per annum are due to lifting and carrying of loads - manual handling! The Manual Handling Operations Regulations place a duty on all employers to, so far as is reasonably practicable, avoid the need for employees to undertake any manual handling operations at work which involve a risk of their being injured.
The term "manual handling operations" refers to any transporting or supporting of a load (including the lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying or moving thereof) by hand or by bodily force. In other words, any sort of physical exertion within the workplace, is likely to be incorporated within these regulations.
Under the Regulations, a "suitable and sufficient assessment of all such manual handling operations" should be undertaken. Ethos Environmental Ltd can assist you in undertaking these risk assessments. We can also design and deliver client-specific training packages to help develop both manual handling user awareness and in-house risk assessor competency.
We run scheduled courses throughout Scotland, and - where four or more employees require training - can deliver client-specific training at your premises cost-effectively. To receive a same-day quotation, contact
